Smart Hunt AI Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 24, 2025
Welcome to Smart Hunt AI! This Privacy Policy explains how Solver Cave ("us", "we", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in relation to our website, browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, information collected automatically when you use the Service, and information from third-party services necessary to provide the Service.
a) Information You Provide:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, password, and display name.
- Resume Content: We collect the base resumes (PDF or DOCX files) you upload, including the file itself and the text content extracted from it.
- Job Descriptions: We collect the text of job descriptions that you paste into the browser extension or web application for the purpose of resume tailoring.
- Job Application Data: We collect information about job applications you save via the extension or dashboard, including the job URL, job description text, tailored resume identifier, storage path for the tailored resume, and optionally the job title and company name you enter.
- Payment Information: When you purchase credits, our payment processor collects your payment card information. We do not directly store your full payment card details, although we may receive transaction identifiers and summary information from our payment processor.
- Communications: If you contact us directly (e.g., via email), we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.
b) Information Collected Automatically:
- Log and Usage Data: Like most websites and online services, we automatically collect log information when you access and use the Service. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, links clicked, actions taken, and timestamps. This data is collected via our hosting provider and potentially our backend service providers.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies (small text files stored on your device) and similar technologies to operate and personalize the Service, maintain your session (e.g., authentication tokens via cookies), and potentially collect analytics data. Please see Section 4 for more details.
- Extension Interaction Data: When you use the browser extension, we may automatically collect the URL of the page you are on when you interact with the extension (to save the job link) and basic interaction data within the extension itself (e.g., button clicks related to generating a resume). We do not automatically scrape job descriptions; you provide this manually.
c) Information from Third Parties:
We primarily rely on third-party services to *process* data on our behalf (see Section 3), rather than receiving personal data *from* them, with the exception of basic authentication confirmation from our authentication provider (e.g., if using Google Sign-In) and payment confirmation details from our payment processor.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:
- To Provide and Maintain the Service: Operate the website and extension, authenticate users, process resume uploads, perform AI resume tailoring, save and display job application data, manage base resumes, and process payments.
- To Improve and Personalize the Service: Understand how users interact with the Service, troubleshoot issues, develop new features, and personalize your experience.
- To Communicate With You: Respond to your comments, questions, and requests; provide customer service and support; send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages; and (with your consent where required) send marketing communications. You can opt-out of marketing communications.
- To Process Transactions: Facilitate purchases of credit packs via our payment processor and update your account credits.
- For Security and Compliance: Monitor for fraudulent or illegal activity, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as:
- Cloud Hosting provider: Hosts the web application.
- Backend Services & Database provider: Handles authentication, database storage, and file storage.
- AI Processing provider: We send your base resume text and the job description text you provide to our AI provider solely for the purpose of generating the tailored resume content *for you*. This provider processes this data according to their terms and privacy policy.
- Payment Processing provider: Handles payment transactions securely.
- Analytics Providers: Help us understand service usage.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service, protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public, or protect against legal liability.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction as permitted by law and/or contract.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent. Specifically, we provide the tailored resume generated by the AI directly to you for download. We do not automatically send your resume or application data to employers or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) unless we implement such a feature in the future and obtain your explicit consent for that specific action.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data stored on your device.
- Types of Cookies: We use Essential Cookies required for the basic operation of the Service, such as maintaining your login session. We may also use Analytics Cookies (like those associated with Google Analytics, if enabled) to help us understand how the Service is used and improve it. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.
- Your Choices: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept essential cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service (like staying logged in).
- Consent: We will obtain your consent for non-essential cookies (such as analytics cookies) where required by law (e.g., GDPR). You can typically manage your consent preferences through a cookie banner or settings tool provided on the Service.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can request access to the personal information we hold about you. Your dashboard provides access to your saved jobs and base resumes.
- Correction/Update: You can update your account information (like display name) through your Account page. For other corrections, please contact us.
- Deletion: You can delete your saved jobs and base resumes through the dashboard. You can request deletion of your entire account by contacting us at smarthunt@solvercave.com. We will process deletion requests in accordance with Section 7 (Data Retention).
- Opt-Out of Marketing: You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us by following the unsubscribe link provided in those emails. You will still receive essential service-related communications.
- "Do Not Sell" (California Residents): We do not sell your personal information. California residents can learn more about their rights, including the right to opt-out (which applies even if we don't currently sell), in the "Special Notice for California Residents" section below.
To exercise any rights you may have, please contact us at smarthunt@solvercave.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 30 days) as required by law.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect the security of information submitted via the Service. We use HTTPS for encrypted communication. Data stored with our backend service providers is subject to their security practices. However, no electronic transmission or storage of information can be entirely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your account password.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. We may also retain information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information (including user profile, saved jobs, base resumes, tailored resumes stored on our systems) within a reasonable period (e.g., 30 days), unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (like fraud prevention or backup archives where deletion may take longer). Anonymized or aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including personal data, to the United States (where our primary service providers operate) and process it there. We rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the providers' adherence to approved frameworks) for transfers of personal data from regions like the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under these ages. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. If the changes are material, we may provide more prominent notice (such as via email or a notification within the Service). You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.

12. Special Notice for California Residents
This section supplements the information contained in our Privacy Policy and applies solely to visitors, users, and others who reside in the State of California. We adopt this notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other California privacy laws.
- Your Rights: You have the right to request information about our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information over the prior 12 months (Right to Know), the right to request deletion of your personal information (Right to Delete), and the right to opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" (for cross-context behavioral advertising) of your personal information (Right to Opt-Out). As stated, we do not sell your personal information, nor do we currently engage in cross-context behavioral advertising that would constitute "sharing" under CCPA.
- How to Exercise Rights: To exercise your Right to Know or Right to Delete, please contact us at smarthunt@solvercave.com. We will need to verify your identity before processing your request. You may also exercise your Right to Opt-Out (even though we don't sell/share) by contacting us via the same email address.
